Daniel Sullivan writes for Law360 on hundreds of 'rogue filings' being lodged via Companies House and advice for affected banks

A number of major banks in the UK have been placed on high alert over hundreds of 'rogue' filings being lodged via Companies House. A note issued by UK Finance warned members earlier this year that around 800 forms relating to the discharge of financial liabilities were submitted at Companies House in late February.

In light of the development, Daniel Sullivan, Partner and head of our Banking & Finance team, writes an article for Law360 recapping on the issue and providing advice to banks who have either been affected by the rogue filings or are worried that they might be.

Daniel concludes the piece by warning that the situation "serves as a reminder that the record at Companies House cannot be treated as definitive, and also that the records system is vulnerable to persons making fraudulent filings."
