Charles Russell Speechlys continues to grow with hire of Real Estate Planning expert Josh Risso-Gill

Charles Russell Speechlys today announces the appointment of Josh Risso-Gill as Partner in its Real Estate Planning team, based in London.

Josh joins from CMS, where he was a Partner specialising in planning law for 8 years, having previously been a partner at Nabarro. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in planning, highway, compulsory purchase and listed building issues.

Josh gives strategic advice on applications, appeals and the judicial review of planning and development-related decisions on complex and high-profile schemes. He acts for a range of clients across the development sector, including funds, banks, investors, retailers, leisure operators and planning authorities. Josh has particular expertise on tall office developments in the City of London, large scale regeneration developments, co-living and student accommodation projects, hotel and leisure schemes, data centres and sports stadiums.

Robin Grove, Divisional Managing Partner of Construction, Real Estate and Disputes, comments: “Josh is a great addition to the Firm. His expertise aligns with a number of the areas of opportunity we are targeting and we are very pleased to welcome him into the team. The London Estates, living sector, data centres, hotels and leisure are all priority areas for us and Josh will bring significant strength to a number of already market-leading teams within the Group.”

Claire Fallows, Partner and Head of Planning, comments: “Josh has an impressive track record advising clients on a range of complex development and planning issues. His appointment will not only help us to grow our practice and bring new, exciting clients on board, but also enable us to continue to deliver exceptional service to our existing clients across a range of sectors. We expect to continue growing the planning and infrastructure team sustainably, where it enables us to better take advantage of opportunities in the market.”

Josh Risso-Gill comments: "I’m very excited to be joining Charles Russell Speechlys. The Firm is involved in some extremely interesting planning and development work, across several sectors and asset classes in which I have strong experience.  There are excellent synergies between the Firm and my practice and opportunities to explore. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with my new colleagues and being part of the continuing growth and success of the Firm”.

Josh’s hire closely follows the appointment of senior consultant and planning expert Kevin Gibbs in January, and demonstrates the Firm’s commitment to sustainably growing its Construction, Real Estate and Disputes teams.
